존경하는 유엔 사무총장, UNICEF 총재, 세계 각국 정상 및 귀빈 여러분께 감사드린다. 저는 그룹 방탄소년단의 리더 RM으로도 알려진 김남준입니다. 하지만 젊은 세대를 위한 의미 있는 자리에 초대받게 되어 큰 영광입니다. 2016년 1월 방탄 소년단은 "진정한 사랑은 나를 사랑함으로써 시작된다"는 신념을 바탕으로 LOVE MYSELF캠페인을 유니세프와 함께 시작했습니다. 전 세계 유아와 청소년을 폭력으로부터 보호하는 #END violence 프로그램도 유니세프와 함께하고 있습니다. 저희 팬들은 행동과 열정으로 저희와 캠페인에 모두 함께하고 계십니다. 정말 세상에서 제일 멋진 팬이에요! 전 당하지만 나에 대한 이야기부터 시작하려고 한다. 저는 한국의 서울 근교에 위치한 하나산이라는 도시에서 태어났습니다. 그곳은 호수와 산이 있고 매년 꽃축제가 열리는 아름다운 곳입니다. 그곳에서 행복한 어린시절을 보냈고 저는 그저 평범한 소년이었습니다. 두근거리는 흉곽을 안고 밤에 하항시를 올려다보기도 하고 소년의 꿈을 꾸기도 했습니다. 세상을 구할 수 있는 영웅이 되는 상상을 하곤 했어요. 우리의 초기 음반 인트로의 중국에서 "9세, 10세 정도로 내 심장은 멈춘 "이라는 가사가 있습니다. 돌이켜보면 그때가 애초에 남의 시선을 의식하고 남의 시선으로 나를 보게 되었을 때가 아닌가 싶습니다. 그때 나는 차츰 밤의 하항때 별을 올려다보지도 않게 되고,쓸데없는 상상을 하게 되었습니다. 그보다는 누가 만든 틀에 나를 맞추는 데 급급했습니다. 잠시 후 내 목소리를 잃어버리고 다른 사람의 목소리를 듣기 시작했습니다. 아무도 내 이름을 불러주지 않았고, 스스로도 그랬어요. 심장은 멈추고 시선은 닫았어요. 그래서 저는, 우리는 이름을 없애고 귀신이 되었습니다.하지만 저에게는 한 가지 안식처가 있었습니다. 그것은 음악이었습니다. 제 안에 작은 목소리가 들렸어요. 깨어나라, 남준. 네가 나를 귀담아 들어!" 하지만 음악이 내 진짜 이름을 부르는 걸 듣기까지 오랜 시간이 걸렸어요. 실제로 방탄소년단에 합류하기로 결심한 뒤에도 많은 난관이 있었습니다. 믿지 못하시는 분들도 계시겠지만, 많은 사람들은 우리에게 희망이 없다고 생각했습니다. 시간을 그냥 포기하고 싶었어요.하지만 내가 모든 것을 포기하지 않는 것은 정말 행운이라고 소견한다. 저는 이렇게 우리는 앞으로도 이렇게 넘어지거나 휘청거릴 것입니다. 방탄 소년단은 최근 대규모 경기장에서 공연을 갖고 수백만장의 앨범을 파는 아티스트가 되었는데 여전히 나는 24세의 평범한 청년입니다. 제가 이룬 게 있다면 이건 바로 옆에 멤버들이 있어줬고 이렇게 전 세계 아미 분들이 저희를 위해 사랑과 성원을 보내주셨기 때문에 가능했던 거죠.어깨에 실수를 해도 어깨의 저도 저고, 맞히기도 하나 부족하고, 누군가는 저도 저예요. 나 혼자의 현명해질 수 있는 나도 나 혼자입니다. 이런 나의 실수와 잘못이 모두 나이고, 내 인생의 별자리의 가장 밝은 별의 무리입니다. 저는 딱 한 살이든 어깨의 나이든 앞으로 되고 싶은 나이든 제 치유를 사랑하게 됐어요.마지막으로 한 가지만 더 말씀드릴게요.
